Dynamic Exercise Therapy

Dynamic Exercise Therapy Treatment

The Dynamic Exercise Therapy Treatment is performed by dynamic training, a mixture of postures, motions and training patterns (dynamic treatment); with verbal and physical guidance, to elicit independent control. Helping encourage the body to return to better structure and function. With a primary focus on function over structure. Working to assist motor control and restore ideal functional postures.

The person as a whole is taken into account and therefore the clinician will not only help reduce the symptoms you present with, but will also help to find out the reason they occurred (the key link), to aid you in your journey of preventing reoccurrence. This helps to bridge the gap between rehabilitation and performance training. Transitioning from injury management, into rehabilitation, and then later into full performance. While working towards a functional performance goal.

Therefore, at times, treatment may be given to very different areas of the body to the primary complaint.

Guidance for aftercare is provided, which assists by aiding to establish and prioritize training components, which can be initiated independently. As an adjunct in achieving your goals.

The system of dynamic assessment and treatment, can be applied to all conditions of ‘dis-ease’, yet can be incorporated alongside ‘traditional’ medical procedures and treatments.

Dynamic exercise therapy is based on these key theories, integrated together to aid functional performance and bodily functions, ensuring their continued healthy function.

  • Function is more important than structure.
  • Motor control is key, and functional control of motor systems is required.
  • There will normally be a ‘key link’, which is often non-symptomatic.
  • Motor control can be treated, by re-grooving healthy motor and movement patterns.
  • People can be taught to self-manage many aspects of their condition.
  • Inherent programmes of the central nervous system are present, and can be used to restore ideal functional postures.
  • Sports performance and competition longevity can be improved, by achieving ideal functional postures (you are only as strong as your ‘weakest link’).
  • The body is a whole, and functions as such, with a global kinetic pattern.
  • A ‘functional pathology’, is a ‘software problem’, and is always reversible.

I have been treated by Michael for 6 years. His use of the Perrin Technique has transformed my life - to the extent that I have gone from having a very limited quality of life to now being able to enjoy a good social life and have even been able to have a baby daughter. This is something I know would never have been possible with the energy levels I had before my treatment started. I can't say how grateful I am for the gift of being able to have and look after my daughter. I now get one treatment every 3 months and for the past 4 years this has kept me at a consistently good level of health. I recommend Michael and this treatment to everyone.

Dynamic Assessment Consultation Procedure

For new patients, a full case history is taken, any prior investigations and current goals discussed, so these can be taken into consideration.

Next, if clinically appropriate, you may be asked to dress down to your underwear to allow us to look at the presenting problem. (However, feel free to wear small shorts, if it makes you feel more comfortable).

You will then be asked to perform a mixture of postures, motions and training patterns (dynamic assessment), to help us gain information and understand your posture and movement capacity, and then interpret this in regards to your presenting complaint and goals. Identifying key links in your case.

If required, additional examination, and questioning will take place. A diagnosis will then be discussed, and if appropriate at this point, treatment will begin.

After dynamic treatment intervention, you will be re-assessed to ensure efficacy, and optimize, the development of therapeutic strategies, for precision care and training.

Guidance for aftercare will be provided, which assists by aiding to establish and prioritise training components, which can be initiated independently. As an adjunct in achieving your goals.

During this process and any subsequent treatments, you are welcome to have another adult individual present, to act as a supportive chaperone, if required.

The Initial Consultation will last 45 minutes, and all follow up appointments for treatment will last 30 minutes.
